Couples Counseling
I was licensed as a Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) in 1976. An MFT is earned through a Master's Degree in Psychology & passing a state licensing exam that determines competency in this speciality.
Couples/Marital & Family therapists work with families or couples both together and individually to help them decide to continue a relationship (or not) and to improve their communication skills, build on the positive aspects of their relationships, and repair the harmful or negative aspects.
This involves understanding problems in the relationship, a sense of the experience of love and affection, and the communication patterns, healthy or unhealthy boundaries, ability to manage conflict and solve problems and parenting roles.
Please read what I have written in the section on Family Counseling because my approach to Couples Counseling is based on those same concerns and values.
Thank-you!
